CRANE AND HOIST INSPECTIONS:
Why do we do inspections?
It is a regulatory requirement that all hoists and Cranes are inspected on a regular basis.
These will include:
Pre-Use Inspections: Usually these are performed by an operator prior to using the lifting device.
Monthly or Frequent Inspections: Usually performed by the in house maintenance staff although there are companies that we perform these tasks for.
Annual or Periodic inspections:
These inspections are performed by our Crane company and by an inspector who has a minimum 10,000 hrs of logged inspection hours and crane experience. The Period between these inspections can range from 3 months to 1 year depending upon the class of crane. Most cranes would fall in the yearly or annual category. These inspections may cover manual cranes with chain hoists, electric hoists, chain or wire rope, on monorails and jib cranes, overhead cranes, gantry cranes and portal cranes. Annual inspections may also include some lifting devices such as lifting beams, rotating beams or rigging. All of our inspections cover ASME B30, CSA B167 and Worksafe B.C Part 14 and 15. Our inspection forms cover all areas of your crane or hoist including controls, operation, hoist, trolley, bridge, structure and general compliances. This may include log books, signage and identifications. NDT services can be scheduled as required. All crane repairs are performed by our inspectors and Service techs who have minimum 8000 hours of Crane experience. Per CSA requirements. We use OEM replacement parts or engineered replacement parts as necessary. Repairs can be performed during an inspection if possible or scheduled at your convenience.
